Option 1: QR Code Triggers Website Discount Page
Flow:
- Customer sees the poster outside your store.
- They scan the QR code with their phone.
- A webpage opens instantly on their phone with a special discount message like:“You’ve unlocked 15% off! Show this screen at checkout.”
- Customer walks into your shop, shows the screen, and the discount is applied manually (or scanned if there’s a POS promo code).
Why It’s Great:
- No need to print multiple codes.
- You can update the offer anytime on the backend.
- Collect emails or signups on that page if desired.
- Very simple for customers—no app, no confusion.
✅ Option 2: QR Code Scanned At Checkout for Discount
Flow:
- Customer sees the poster or flyer with the QR code.
- They don’t scan it right away—instead, bring it to the counter.
- At checkout, either:
- Staff scan the QR from the poster to trigger the discount in your POS.
- Or customer scans it on their phone (if they took a photo or the QR is printed on a flyer).
Why It’s Less Ideal:
- Slows down checkout slightly.
- Less interactive—no landing page to explain the offer or collect info.
- Doesn’t engage the customer until after they’re already buying.
🔄 Recommended Hybrid (Best of Both Worlds)
Let the QR code:
- Open a branded, mobile-optimized landing page
- Show the discount message + instructions
- Optional: Collect email for future promotions
- Have staff honor the discount when they see that page
Example:
“Thanks for visiting! Show this screen at checkout for 10% off today’s purchase.”
